The owner of this restaurant, Space Mabi, is a painter who has been painting his entire life. He previously owned a number of cafés and restaurants. All of his venues hosted events that young artists could have exhibitions at no cost even if they were not famous or well-known.

I received two drawings from the client. He imagined the customized seating being transformed into a stage when they’re assembled, allowing musicians to come in and give a little concert on special occasions. There were several exposed pipes and damaged red bricks in the existing condition. I wanted to re-use these so that Space Mabi could make the most out of its strong basis while also being an unique space with its own personality. I suggested he go with an industrial design since modern interior design is all about unveiling everything beneath the surface to get a raw, edgy atmosphere. This industrial design proudly reveals what other design attempt to conceal. It reminded me of what the owner was doing for the young artists.

It takes courage to expose everything, and modern industrial interior design is all about uncovering everything beneath to get a raw, edgy vibe. The industrial style design proudly reveals what other design try to conceal. Structural elements are re-purposed as showpieces, resulting in an unrefined, yet coherent and sleek, industrial design.

Modern industrial elements also takes open concept living to the next level. The furniture and accessories define most spaces and the purpose they serve. So a lot of thought goes into every little detail
